I have nothing but great things to say about [Mr. Barman]. He is truly a gem of a person and an exceptional teacher.
I have seen my daughter’s interest in math and her self-confidence grow tremendously.... He has a wonderful way of connecting with kids. He encourages them to think deeply, pushes them to improve, and nurtures their curiosity about math.
She has benefited not only in her mathematical abilities but also in her visualization and presentation skills. One of the most unique aspects of his Math Circle classes is the approach to homework. While it is challenging, it is also flexible and creative. Students can present their work through videos, art, writing, and other formats, which makes the learning experience even more engaging.

Mr. Dilip Barman is an outstanding math teacher at the Math Institute of the Triangle. He has been an amazing teacher for my two kids (J, 9, and N, 6). Dilip’s enthusiasm makes math genuinely fun for kids of all ages, and he gets my children genuinely excited to attend class—no easy feat! Thanks entirely to his teaching, both kids are advanced in math and, more importantly, truly love math. Highly recommend him to any parent looking for an exceptional math educator/math program. --Father of a 1st and 4th grader, Feb. 2026
We’ve had such an incredible experience with this math program over the past three years that I genuinely can’t recommend it highly enough; my son has always loved math and needed a real challenge, and this program truly delivers. From the start, it created an environment where learning felt exciting, and instead of coasting, he’s been consistently engaged, stretched, and motivated to grow. What stands out most is how thoughtfully the curriculum builds skills step by step, ensuring students understand the “why,” not just the “how,” and that’s a testament to dedicated instructors like Mr. Barman, whose commitment and encouragement make a lasting impact. Over these three years I’ve watched my son’s logical thinking and enthusiasm soar, and it’s clear this has been one of the best educational decisions we’ve made for him. --Parent of a 4th grader, Feb. 2026
Dilip has created a superb environment for kids to explore, learn and thrive in mathematics. Our son has been attending the Mathematics Institute of the Triangle for three years. He is challenged in a way he doesn't always get in a school environment, and his love for learning math is growing, inspired by Dilip and his teachers. If you have a child interested in math, this is the place they need to be. --Mother of a 9th grader, Feb. 2026
Thanks to you for stimulating her and all kids to think about these math principles at this age. As a matter of fact, even as adults, my husband and I are finding your curriculum mind-blowing; how you are seeding the intuition behind many of these principles in a child-friendly way. Our education system, when we were kids, was mainly focused on memorizing the formulas and it is wonderful for these kids to build the intuition instead. --Mother of a 1st grader, April 2023
Our son has learned so much at Mathematics Institute of the Triangle. Dilip's love of math is contagious and he never runs short of ideas, stories, concepts, puzzles, or activities with which to teach. His creativity and enthusiasm continually amaze us! Thanks again for an excellent year in math for A! --Parents of a 5th grader, May 2023
I feel very blessed that Eli is your student, and am especially appreciative of the manner by which you blend math instruction together with math context (how math knowledge fits with the real world) and math history. These are things that are missing from most math teaching, but their inclusion, I strongly feel, helps students appreciate math even more. I also like how you make math more collaborative by having students cooperate in their problem solving, having them interact together to come to problem solutions. This makes math a lot more personal, and enhances group skills.... Thanks for everything.

Mr. Barman is an inspirational teacher and my son (and I) feels lucky to be in his class. His gentle enthusiasm and desire to engage all of the kids and his enjoyment at seeing their ideas (especially in their homework) is very motivating for my son. I felt it necessary to highlight how good a teacher he is so you would know what my son thinks of him. Thank you for giving my son so much enthusiasm for math. --Parent of a 1st or 2nd grader, anonymous survey, June 2023
Fantastically engaging math education that builds deep understanding and problem solving. This is so much more than math tutoring: the teachers share an infectious love of mathematics, and the students learn to tackle problems so much more interesting and complex than just about anything you find in regular school.... At first, my child felt bad when they encountered a problem they didn’t know how to solve, because at school they had only been expected to immediately know calculations. Mr. Barman was a supportive and encouraging teacher who within a few weeks helped our child appreciate that it’s okay if it takes time to understand a complex problem, and how you can think creatively and apply some trial and error.... Of course this is great for math education, but even more importantly because of these math classes our child has developed the willingness and persistence to try hard things, and to not be discouraged by needing to try different approaches until you find a path to success. I sincerely think attending Mathematics Institute of the Triangle has been life-changing for my child and is an amazing asset to the community. --Mother of a 6th grader, March 2026
My son ... absolutely loves going to class each week. Mr. Barman has a rare gift for making math fun, exciting, and accessible for young children. What stands out most is how clearly he explains ideas and how much enthusiasm he brings, not just for math, but for life in general. That energy is contagious, and it makes the students genuinely excited to learn (even after a full day at school!). My son talks about class at home and is beginning to see math not just as a school subject, but as something interesting and useful in everyday life.
I especially appreciate how Mr. Barman shows ... real-world applications of math and helps children feel curious, confident, and engaged. We are so grateful to have found the Mathematics Institute of the Triangle and highly recommend it to any family looking for a place where a child can truly enjoy and grow in math.
What Mr. Barman is creating here feels like much more than an after-school math program. He is building a wonderful community of young learners who are excited to think, participate, and grow. There is a real sense that he is nurturing curiosity, confidence, joy, and connection among the children, and that kind of environment is very special.

We had K tested with the
Woodcock-Johnson test and she went from 6th grade level equivalent (last year) to 13th grade equivalent in the math components calculation and fluency and >17.9 grade equivalent in problem solving. K said the only things she didn´t know were some graphs, algebra, and sin/cos stuff. We are really pleased with her math ability development! All thanks to to you for this class opportunity and for teaching K!!!

Dilip did a fantastic job helping my son prepare for the math portion of the SAT (and ACT). He was extremely patient with my son, tailoring lessons to areas that needed strengthening and helping him work through problems when that was needed. My son did very well on both tests and I am certain that working with Dilip increased his scores significantly. I only wish that the Mathematics Institute had been around earlier so that my son could have attended. --Parent of a college student, May 2023
My freshman son is a serious athlete and he needed some help with geometry. We needed someone who's flexible with time. He has been working with Sam since last September. They meet online as needed. Sam has been amazing with my son. After the session, he emails me what they have covered and my son is more confident in his class because of Sam's services. Highly recommend their private tutoring services. --Parent of a 9th grader, Feb. 2026
Dorian Varney has completely changed the educational trajectory of our oldest son, E ... [who] for 3 years ... had been severely struggling in math. We were caught off guard at how far behind he was, and we absolutely panicked. Triangle Math Institute immediately connected us to Dorian.... Within just a few sessions with Dorian, E’s attitude towards math completely changed. He began looking forward to her tutoring sessions every week. He started understanding the foundational concepts of math and developing confidence in his ability to understand the material. And then, he started loving math.... Dorian’s teaching skills and influence have improved our child’s confidence and math skills, and changed his mindset completely about learning. --Parent of a 4th grader, Nov. 2025
We are very pleased with how M is approaching math following her structured work with you and [the tutor], and how much more confident she is tackling her coursework. Thank you very much to both of you.
--Parents of a 6th grader, Feb. 2026
J is very impressed by your math
knowledge. He definitely likes your camp! This is the first time I signed him up for a math
camp/class. I was a little bit worried that he wouldn´t like it. But now I am so happy. I never saw him like math so much. Thank you very much! --Mother of a 6th grader, July 2022
A did tell us how fun math class was. You are a truly great teacher! --Mother of a 5th grader, Sept. 2022
I have never seen her so enthusiastic about Math before ... you’re doing a lot right. I think she might also be feeling more confident as we really sat with her throughout the week and this weekend while she did her homework. --Mother of a 5th grader, Oct. 2022

Mr. Dilip Barman is a great teacher who was able to engage kids of 1-2 graders in and outside of the class. He is by far the best teacher we had. --Parent of a 1st or 2nd grader, anonymous survey, June 2023
We could not be any happier to have found Dilip and Mathematics Institute of the Triangle for our family!!! What a wonderful place!! Our daughter absolutely loves her level 2 class and has even chosen it over her other extracurricular activities when scheduling conflicts have arisen. Dilip's passion for teaching and love of math are palpable and contagious. He is one of the best teachers I've ever encountered and the children love his classes!
