Schedule and Registration

2024-5 Schedule

In the 2024-25 school year beginning on Friday, August 23, 2024, we are planning

on offering classes for most grades. Students are placed based on assessments

that can be done in-person or online. Our schedule is:


Sundays

  • Math Level 5 (typically for 5th-7th graders) 3:30-5:30p
  • Prealgebra 6-8p
  • Geometry, 2-4p
  • possibly Advanced Algebra, time TBD


Mondays - Math Level 4 (typically for 4th graders) 4:30-6:30p


Thursdays

  • Math Level 3 (typically for 3rd graders) 4-6p
  • Algebra 6:20-8:20p


Friday - Math Level 2 (typically for 2nd graders) 4:30-6:30p


By arrangement

  • Math Level 1 (typically for 1st graders)
  • 1st-2nd Grade Math Circle (one-hour sessions)
  • Private in-person or virtual tutoring including SAT math preparation


Class Schedule

Classes at Levels 2 and up meet for 36 2-hour sessions; math circle meets for an hour, and Level 1 for 1h15m. We tutor a number of students from before Kindergarten through college.


Our 36-week schedule for 2024-5 is as follows (subject to minor changes with notice):

On Thursday, March 20, we are hosting the Math Kangaroo international competition. After our students get an opportunity to register, it will open to the general public. Thursday students may have an abbreviated class that day after the test; we will try to stick to the schedule but will make arrangements as needed to get through the material.


(By way of reference, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools schedule starts on Aug. 28 and ends on June 12 with winter break Dec. 18-Jan. 2 and spring break April 1-5.)

2025-6 Schedule

In the 2025-26 school year beginning on August 24, 2025, we are planning

on offering classes for most grades and, for the first time, offering a language

arts class. Our tentative offerings are:


Math Level 1 (typically for 1st graders) Wednesdays 3-4p, alternatively

possibly Mondays or Fridays 3-4p


Math Level 2 (typically for 2nd or 3rd graders) Wednesdays 4:15-6:15p


Math Level 3 (typically for 3rd or 4th graders) Fridays 4:30-6:30p


Math Level 4 (typically for 4th or 5th graders) Thursdays 4-6p


Math Level 5 (typically for 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th graders) choice of

Sundays 3:30-5:30p or Mondays 4:30-6:30p; for homeschoolers,

additional choice of Fridays 12:30-2:30p


Prealgebra (typically for 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th graders) choice of

Thursdays 6:20-8:20p or Sundays 3:30-5:30p; for homeschoolers,

additional choice of Thursdays 1-3p


Algebra (typically for 7th, 8th, 9th, or 10th graders) Sundays 6-8p


Geometry (typically for 8th graders or high school students) Thursdays 6:20-8:20p


Word Play: a 12-week language arts class for 5th-7th graders (time TBD)
